OPC-UA MES Integration

The CRB-L400 is built for pump remanufacturing lines rather than repair bays. It is an inline end of line test station that sits at the exit of an assembly cell, clamps each rebuilt common rail pump automatically, runs a fixed 90 second acceptance sequence and releases the unit with a pass or fail decision written straight into the plant MES.

The station removes the two biggest sources of variability in manual end of line testing: operator interpretation and cycle time drift. Pressure setpoints, dwell times and flow limits come from a parameter file loaded once per pump family, and the verdict is decided by tolerance bands rather than by a technician reading a gauge and writing a number on a card.

Mechanically the bench is a two station rotary fixture. While one pump is under test the operator loads the next, so the measured cycle stays close to 90 seconds per unit and the station keeps pace with a line running 250 to 350 pumps per shift. A guarded light curtain and a Category 3 safety relay protect the loading position, and the clamp will not close while the curtain is broken.

Key Features
  • 90 Second Acceptance Cycle: a fixed sequence of leak, delivery, pressure holding and return flow checks finishes within 90 seconds, matching a 300 unit per shift line rate.
  • Automatic Clamp And Coupling: a pneumatic clamp centres the pump body and engages the drive coupling without hand tools, removing fixture error between operators and between shifts.
  • Pass Fail Tolerance Bands: limits are stored per pump family and the station issues a hard accept or reject verdict instead of a raw data sheet that someone has to interpret.
  • OPC-UA MES Integration: results, serial numbers and defect codes are pushed to the plant MES over OPC-UA, with an SQL fallback connector for older factory systems.
  • Two Station Rotary Fixture: loading and testing overlap, so the measured cycle time stays stable across a full shift instead of drifting as operators slow down.
  • Guarded Loading Position: light curtain, Category 3 safety relay and two hand cycle start protect the operator during clamp and coupling engagement.

Applications

The station is installed at the end of a common rail pump assembly or remanufacturing cell and verifies every unit before packing. Plants also use it for incoming warranty returns, since the same recipe library covers the pump families they rebuild and the pass fail log gives a defensible record when a customer disputes a rejection.

Because every result is timestamped against a serial number, quality engineers can trace a defect trend back to a specific assembly station or a batch of components, which shortens containment when a supplier changes a part number or a machining process.

Packaging & Quality Assurance

The station ships in three sections: base frame, test cabinet and control console. Sections are crated separately on a single pallet with alignment dowels and numbered cable harnesses, so mechanical reassembly takes one shift with a fitter and an electrician. A commissioning kit includes a reference pump, spare seals, filter elements and the recipe files for the pump families ordered.

Factory acceptance testing runs 200 consecutive pumps through the station and records cycle time drift, false reject rate and pressure repeatability. The report is issued with the machine and can be witnessed on site. Warranty is twelve months on the complete station, with remote support included for recipe tuning during the first production month.
